| Galley Gourmet Dinner Cruises
Since 2003, Galley Gourmet's signature dinner cruises have been a highlight event for Kodiak visitors as well as locals--which says a lot right there. Galley Gourmet's dinner cruises are more than a meal aboard a boat. First of all, you're special guests of hosts Marion and Marty Owen on the Sea Breeze, a classic 42-foot yacht. And the food, the view? Read on. We think you'll like what you see!
What makes our dinner cruise so special?
Since we take a maximum of 6 guests, you will enjoy the intimate atmasphere and personal attention. Whether you are a party of 1, 2, 4 or 6, our aim is to provide you with a fine dining experience during the 3.5-hour sightseeing dinner cruise. And remember, when you make your booking, let us know if you are celebrating an anniversary, birthday or other special occasion. We like to help you celebrate life!
What to expect on your dinner cruise
Great food and beautiful scenery, for starters...
After leaving the dock, Marty navigates between islands and through Kodiak's narrow passages. While nibbling on tasty appetizers, you'll notice many opportunities to bring back beautiful pictures, thanks to Marion's advice. She's a professional photographer and is happy to help you get great photos.
Kodiak is home to sea lions, puffins, sea otters, beautiful wildflowers and whales. Every stretch of water and shoreline is a treat to the senses. As one happy customer said, "The Sea Breeze is Alaska at its best!" (Read travel writer Scott McMurren's entertaining article about his trip to Kodiak and his culinary adventure on the Sea Breeze.)
Marty is the local harbormaster. His family roots go back to the 1930's when his family settled on Kodiak Island--which means he has lots of fun stories to tell!
Everyone has a view!
One of their favorite dinner spots is in a picturesque lagoon on Long Island (shown in our home page). It is home to historic Fort Tidball, the site of a WWII coastal artillery. To learn about Kodiak's key role during WWII, visit the Kodiak Military Museum's web site.
The ocean air gives you a healthy appetite, which is a good thing since you are treated to a delicious meal. From the fresh salad greens (Marion is a master gardener and co-author of Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul) to the scrumptious dessert, you'll discover why it's called "Galley Gourmet, a feast underway!"
World-class seafood
Kodiak is home to world-class seafood, so we like to feature local fare. For a look-see at a few sample menus, click here. We're also happy to serve non-seafood dishes, as well as work with any special dietary needs and restrictions. Just let us know.
How to book your dinner cruise
Contact us by email or by phone (907-486-5079) though we prefer the more personal touch by phone. We require a deposit on all reservations. (Deposits are refundable only if cancellation is made at least 30 days prior to your scheduled trip. A processing fee of $25 will be charged for all cancellations). For our pricing, please click here.
We hope to see you soon on one of our dinner or brunch cruises. As Arnold Lobel once said, "All's well that ends with a good meal."
Sincerely, and with tasty thoughts,
