Galley Gourmet's Cliff House B&B
New for the 2008 season!

"Hello there! Would you like to relax, put your feet up for a while and feel renewed and refreshed?"

sea otter, B&B, Kodiak, Alaska

"Well then, you're in for a treat because Marty and Marion Owen, the guys that brought you the award-winning Galley Gourmet dinner cruises, have a new B&B. It opens April 2008 and get this, it's right on the ocean..."

Our sea otter friend, who often waves as he slips by our house, is just one of the attractions we offer to our bed and breakfast guests.

A quiet neighborhood...

Located in a quiet, comfortable cliffside neighborhood overlooking the entrance channel to Kodiak's largest boat harbor, our year-round bed and breakfast is just minutes from downtown Kodiak. In fact, it's a woodsy, waterfront walk to get there. And since our home faces due south, you are blessed with spectacular views of the ocean. Watch boats cruise by, along with whales, jumping salmon, eagles, sea lions. Gee, you might not want to get out of bed.

Speaking of beds, our bedroom furniture is built by American Woodcraft in Tacoma, Washington. And you can look forward to a wonderful night's sleep on our new, not-too-soft, not-too-firm, mattresses. The Dromma bedlinens (from Ikea) are densely woven from fine yarn yielding a soft material with a silk feel and luster.

Marion is a master [organic] gardener and the grounds are surrounded by gardens, mostly to provide salad greens, vegetables, edible flowers and herbs for our gourmet dinner cruises.

We realize you have specific needs when you travel, so we offer two sets of accommodations:

1. The Suite of Murals

Named for the three bedrooms that feature a landscape mural on one of the walls in each room. Painted by the Kodiak High School art club, each mural depicts a quiet scenic; nice and relaxing. Take a look...

More about Kodiak and our dinner cruises...

Steller sea lions Kodiak Island AlaskaKodiak is home to sea lions, puffins, sea otters, beautiful wildflowers and whales. Every stretch of water and shoreline is a treat to the senses. As one happy customer said, "The Sea Breeze is Alaska at its best!" (
Read travel writer Scott McMurren's entertaining article about his trip to Kodiak and his culinary adventure on the Sea Breeze.)

Marty is the local harbormaster. His family roots go back to the 1930's when his family settled on Kodiak Island--which means he has lots of fun stories to tell!

Everyone has a view!

One of their favorite dinner spots is in a picturesque lagoon on Long Island (shown in our home page). It is home to historic Fort Tidball, the site of a WWII coastal artillery. To learn about Kodiak's key role during WWII, visit the Kodiak Military Museum's web site.

Galley Gourmet dinner cruises; dining in Kodiak, AlaskaThe ocean air gives you a healthy appetite--a good thing since you are treated to a delicious meal. From the fresh salad greens (Marion is a master gardener and co-author of Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul) to the scrumptious dessert, you'll discover why it's called "Galley Gourmet, a feast underway!"

World-class seafood

Local seafood is featured as well as entrees created by award-winning French chef, Joel Chenet of Mill Bay Coffee and Pastries. To whet your appetite, check out our sample menu, at right. We're also happy to serve non-seafood dishes, as well as work with any special dietary needs and restrictions. Just let us know.

As Arnold Lobel once said, "All's well that ends with a good meal."

We hope to see you soon on one of our dinner or brunch cruises.
